The Origin team

Popescu David

David-Alexandru Popescu

CEO

In 2023, David started the Origin BCI project with a clear goal: to help people with limb differences regain their independence. With a solid background in engineering and previews startup-building experience, he envisioned a world in which bionic devices are not only functional but also stylish and accessible.

For the first one and a half years, he designed five prototype bionic hands on his own, handling the mechanical design, electronics, and software development. He also researches advanced brain-computer interface technologies and neuroanatomy concepts to explore new ways of controlling prosthetic devices.

Andronic Smaranda

Smaranda Andronic

CTO

Smaranda is our electronics wizard. She joined Origin BCI to help us design our PCBs and select the components needed to build the most reliable and efficient prosthetic devices possible.

Her work quickly expanded beyond electronics design, as she also took on mechanical design, 3D-modelling some of the main components that go into our bionic devices. Now she is a crucial part of our engineering team, ensuring that our designs are both safe and effective.

Tosa Denis

Denis-Andrei Toșa

COO

Shortly after joining the team, Denis became ’the workshop guy’. He took it upon himself to tackle the challenge of 3D printing, soldering, assembling, and testing each and every mechanism we design.

He is a dedicated engineer and an excellent software developer. His work is central to our devices’ control systems, ensuring that every prosthetic hand we create operates smoothly and efficiently. He is deeply committed to our mission of improving the lives of people with limb differences.

Toropoc Vlad

Vlad-Alexandru Țoropoc

Community manager

Vlad is the creative mind behind the camera. He was the second person to join Origin BCI, and since day one he has been dedicated to telling our story through stunning visuals and engaging content.

We began to get noticed and started building the community we have today after the first photos and videos he created for us were published online. His work continues to be instrumental in spreading our vision, and it will only grow in importance as we move forward.
